Question 1

What is the difference between Etsy and Amazon jewelry photography?

Accepted Answer

Amazon rewards compliance, while Etsy rewards storytelling. Amazon needs a product-only main image on pure white, but Etsy welcomes styled and lifestyle shots. Plan both from one shoot so you avoid paying for expensive reshoots later on, and save time.

Question 2

Does Amazon require a white background for jewelry photos?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the main image must have a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255). The product should fill about 85% of the frame, with no text, logos, or props. Lifestyle shots belong in the secondary image slots of your listing.

Question 3

What size should Etsy jewelry photos be?

Accepted Answer

Aim for at least 2,000 pixels on the shortest side. Etsy suggests a square 1:1 or portrait 3:4 ratio. Leave a little space around the piece, since the crop can change depending on where the photo appears on Etsy itself.

Question 4

What size should Amazon jewelry images be?

Accepted Answer

Use at least 1,000 pixels on the longest side to turn on Amazon's zoom feature. The ideal size is 2,000 by 2,000 pixels. Zoom matters for jewelry because buyers want to check prongs, settings, and engraving up close before buying.

Question 5

How many photos should an Etsy jewelry listing have?

Accepted Answer

Use at least 7 photos, since listings with more images tend to perform better. Include a hero shot, a close-up, an on-model photo, a lifestyle image, and a size reference. Check Etsy's current photo limit first, because sources often disagree.

Question 6

Can I use the same jewelry photos on Etsy and Amazon?

Accepted Answer

Yes, one shot set can work on both if you plan ahead. Use a clean base image for Amazon's white main slot, then use lifestyle and on-model shots for Etsy and Amazon's secondary slots. Never replace the compliant main image.

Question 7

What shots do I need for Etsy jewelry listings?

Accepted Answer

Start with a clean hero shot, then add a close-up of the stone or engraving, an on-model photo, a lifestyle or gifting image, and a size reference. Packaging or personalization details are worth adding too, when they fit the piece.

Question 8

What images do I need for Amazon jewelry listings?

Accepted Answer

You need a compliant white-background main image, then secondary shots like close-ups, scale references, on-model photos, and packaging. Keep one product per main image and always show the whole piece without cropping chains or bangle edges in the final frame.

Question 9

How do I keep jewelry colors accurate in listing photos?

Accepted Answer

Use diffused, neutral light and avoid heavy editing that changes the metal tone. Warm lighting can turn white gold yellow. Always compare the final image against the real physical piece, because color mismatches lead to returns and bad customer reviews.

Question 10

Can I use AI to create jewelry photos for Etsy and Amazon?

Accepted Answer

Yes, AI can quickly create product and model images for both marketplaces. Check every result against the real piece for color, stone count, and proportions, and confirm the main image follows Amazon's pure white background rules before you upload it.
